The Macedonian Call and Lydia's Conversion

Paul, Silas, and Timothy are guided by the Holy Spirit through Asia Minor, being prevented from preaching in certain regions. In Troas, Paul receives a vision of a Macedonian man pleading for help, leading them to conclude God has called them to Macedonia. They sail to Philippi, where on the Sabbath, they find a group of women praying by a river. Paul speaks to them, and Lydia, a seller of purple goods, listens intently. The Lord opens her heart, and she and her household are baptized. Lydia then urges Paul and his companions to stay at her house, prevailing upon them.
