Manna and Quail in the Wilderness

After leaving Egypt, the Israelites grumble against Moses and Aaron due to lack of food in the Wilderness of Sin. The Lord hears their complaints and promises to provide meat in the evening and bread in the morning. He then sends quail to cover the camp and a fine, flaky substance called manna each morning. The Lord instructs them to gather only a day's portion, except on the sixth day when they are to gather a double portion for the Sabbath. Some disobey and find their manna spoiled, while others obey and find the Sabbath portion preserved. The Lord commands a portion of manna to be kept as a memorial.
